Great Harbour Cay is one of the northernmost islands in the Berry Island chain. It lies 120 miles east of South Florida and is easily reached by regularly scheduled air charters from West Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale. (or from Nassau, which only a 20 minute flight away)

Real Estate on the island is still inexpensive! Example prices are 2 bedroom/2 bath Beachfront Villa-everything brand new-overlooking sea $229,000USD. A 17,000 sq ft beachfront lot is $300,000. Lots across the street from the beach: $40,000! Well maintained 3 bedroom home across the street from the beach- $320,000 USD.

Great Harbour Cay is one of the SAFEST islands in the Bahamas . We have about 500 full time residents and over 200 "second home owners" which come and go throughout the year. There are 4 grocery stores, a credit union bank (no ATM), 2 hardware stores, a few small shops, 6 restaurants featuring Bahamian and American cuisine, a medical and dental clinic, hurricane protected 'Great Harbour Cay Marina', 9 hole golf course, tennis courts and an international airport.

All year round the Great Harbour Cay offers warm waters, great visibility, warm weather (occasional winter cold fronts bring the temps down into the 60s), and natural beauty to bring visitors from around the world to enjoy the scuba diving, snorkeling, golf, swimming, shell hunting, fishing, or just relaxing. Great Harbour is known for its friendly people. They are always willing to help or assist visitors. Empty beaches, no traffic, and low crime make the island the perfect place to relax with family. There are no traffic lights on the island. Many residents drive golf carts. E-mail, fax, cell phones, high speed internet, and the latest technology can all be found here, but a laid back atmosphere ensures that both locals and visitors enjoy a peaceful and relaxing island.

World famous Chub Cay Resort and Marina is just a 30 minute boat ride away. Other Berry Islands are worth a visit as well, such as Little Harbour Cay, with "Flo's Conch Bar" and Hoffman Cay, with it's incredible endless "Blue Hole".

There is a terrific winter resident population which consists of retirees from mostly north eastern states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. They enjoy socializing at the "Pool Bar restaurant " or "Tamboo Club" in the evenings, trying their hand in numerous golf tournaments, attending cocktail parties, island hopping and much more.
We have an excellent full time trauma nurse on the island who has worked for "Doctors without Borders" in Russia and Africa. She has helped many of the older residents with falls and broken hips.
Sapphire Aviation, which flies in almost daily from the West Palm Beach carrying up to 6 passengers, offers shopping services-Fax them your grocery list, and they will shop and bring your fresh groceries on the plane with them. They also offer mail services and will bring your online mail packages and the such. They will even help you with your state-side banking. Other flights service the island on a regular basis, as well. Gulfstream Airlines has flights from Ft. Lauderdale 3 times per week. (approx.$200 each way)
Tropic Air Charters also comes in weekly from Ft. Lauderdale. Cat Island Airways has two direct 20 minute flights per day from Nassau. ($150 R/T)
Weekly barge service from the US carries building supplies, furniture, plants, and more.

Great Harbour is a wonderful place to relax. It is "low key", not the hustle and bustle of islands like Nassau. This makes this small, peaceful island a great place to escape from the fast paced, stressful life style back home.
